William Preston Woolley, 88, died on June 26, 2022. Born in Oak Tree, New Jersey, and raised in Plainfield, to the late Sanford and Anna Woolley (nee Corea), he went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Woolley worked in the tree business before joining the Plainfield Fire Department, where he spent 25 years, retiring in 1986 as Captain. He then went on to continue his tree service company, before dedicating time to enjoying his retirement. William met the love of his life, Linda Young, and were married in 1981. They resided in North Plainfield, before settling to Whitehouse Station in 1999. William was fearless, both at work, and in his personal life. He enjoyed skydiving and had his private pilot’s license. William liked to spend time in the air and at sea, taking his wife with him on many flights and spending time together on their sailboat. They were members of the Raritan Yacht Club of Perth Amboy. Living in Whitehouse Station they got to witness the Balloon Festival, even having some land near their home. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent and experiences with his wife and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Mary, George, and Virginia. Surviving are his beloved wife, Linda Woolley, his dear brother Vincent Woolley and wife Martha, as well as his sister-in-law Laraine Muller and husband Russ.
