William “Bill” J. Saller Jr. 86, of Bridgewater, NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 26, 2021.
Bill was born November 29, 1934 in Altoona, Pennsylvania the only child of William J. Saller, Sr. and Loretta C. Saller (nee’ Daley).
Bill graduated from Altoona Catholic High School and from Saint Francis University in Loretta, PA. He was a member of the Saint Francis Red Flash “Frankies” basketball team, including playing in the National Invitation Tournament in 1954 and 1955. He was inducted into the Blair County, PA Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a longtime and respected member of Somerville Elks Lodge 1068 serving on the Board of Trustees.
Bill was an executive at Baker & Taylor book wholesaler in Somerville, NJ, and eventually became the Manager of Somerset Recycling in Bridgewater, NJ, where he retired in 2010.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda Eloise Saller (nee’ Phelps); his son Michael J. Saller of Indialantic, FL; daughter Michele Lengen of Keansburg, NJ; daughter Susanne Saller of Bridgewater, NJ; three grandchildren Stephen and his wife Jill Lengen of Andover, NJ; Ashley Lengen of Chalfont, PA; Leah Stine of Bridgewater, NJ and five great-grandchildren Lilly, Emma, Andrew, Matthew and Brian.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 4-7pm at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 6 at 9:30am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville, NJ. Entombment following Mass at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ. Repass will follow at the Somerville Elks, Bridgewater, NJ
