Walter Robert Leon, aged 74, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to the late Honorio and Rosa Leon (Izurieta), Walter moved to the United States at the age of 17, initially settling in Brooklyn. He later relocated to Queens, where he reunited with his childhood friend from Ecuador, Fanny Acuña. The two were married and eventually made their home in Irvington, NJ.
Walter was a Tax Record Keeper with AT&T which moved his family to Bridgewater thirty years ago. He then moved to Somerville in 2004 and has been a big part of his family’s life, especially his grandchildren.
He had a passion for perfection, whether it was playing football(soccer), dancing salsa, or keeping his home and yard together, he always dedicated time to keeping order. Walter went out with his wife dancing almost every night, they were an incredible pair. He was an avid Barcelona soccer fan who enjoyed gathering with his family and creating memories together.
He was preceded in death by his dear sisters Jenny, and Maria Rosita.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Fanny Leon, his loving sons Alex Romero and Roberto Leon and wife Jennifer, his cherished grandchildren Vanessa, Victoria, and Anthony, his dear siblings Betsy, Frankie, Kenny, Abel Eduardo, and Glenn, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation from 2:00 to 5:00PM on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.
A prayer service will be held at 5:00PM.
