Victor Felipe Garcia-Calla

Our beloved Victor F. Garcia-Calla, 81, was called to the Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Somerville, NJ.

Victor was born on May 27, 1941, in Lima, Peru. He was the third child to parents Victor F. Garcia and Pilar Calla Arce. He played football in his youth and his favorite soccer team was Melgar from Arequipa-Peru.

Victor met the love of his life, Maria Bertha Montalvan in 1967 when she moved in across the street. The two were married in 1973 celebrating their 50th Anniversary together this year on November 17th.

Victor worked more than 30 years in Procter and Gamble as a maintenance in Lima-Peru and enjoyed driving through the countryside and spending time with their family and immersed in the culture. The family immigrated to the United States in 2000 but always kept a deep love of his Peruvian roots. His favorite food was Cau-Cau and seco con frejoles. He spent every day winding down listening to Peruvian writer, Jaime Bayly. He also enjoyed watching Peruvians news and his favorite program was America Noticias.

Victor worked at Newark Airport in their maintenance department for many years. He was known by his nicknames Flaqui, Chiney, Lorenzo, and ÑaÑoo, Victor was loving, kind, caring, devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Surviving are his loving wife Maria Bertha Montalvan Ruiz de Garcia, his three loving children Victor Ricardo Garcia Montalvan, Doris Garcia Montalvan (Fujimoto), and Wilder D. Garcia Montalvan, his two adored grandchildren Brayan D. and Gael, six sisters Felicita Rodriguez, Theresa Garcia, Isabel Bertram, Mara Wetz, Manuela Vargas, Betty Garcia, one brother, Pedro Garcia, many newphews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his dear brother Raúl Garcia, his sister-in-law Neldy Garcia.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Graveside services will held on Wednesday May 31, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Friends and family are welcome to gather at Cusick Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 AM

Nuestro amado Víctor F. García-Calla, a la edad de 81 años fue llamado al Señor el Miércoles 17 de Mayo del 2023 en el Hospital Robert Wood Johnson en Somerville, NJ.

Víctor nació el 27 de Mayo de 1941 en Lima, Perú. Fue el tercer hijo de los padres Víctor F. García y Pilar Calla Arce. Jugó al fútbol en su juventud y su equipo de fútbol favorito era el Melgar de Arequipa-Perú.

Víctor conoció al amor de su vida, María Bertha Montalván en el año de 1967 cuando ella se mudó al mismo barrio. Se casaron en 1973, el cual iban a celebrar su 50th aniversario juntos el 17 de noviembre de este año.

Víctor trabajó más de 30 años en Procter and Gamble como mantenimiento en Lima-Perú y disfrutaba viajando en vacasiones con su familia conociendo todo el Peru. La familia emigró a los Estados Unidos en el año 2000 y siempre mantuvo un profundo amor por sus raíces peruanas. Su comida favorita era el Cau-Cau y el seco con frejoles. Pasaba todos los días relajándose escuchando al escritor peruano Jaime Bayly. También disfrutaba viendo las noticias peruanas y su programa favorito era América Noticias.

Victor trabajó en el departamento de mantenimiento del aeropuerto de Newark durante muchos años. Conocido por sus apodos de sus esposa e hijos como Flaqui, Chiney, Lorenzo y ÑaÑoo, Víctor era un esposo, padre, abuelo, hermano, tío y amigo cariñoso, amable, afectuoso, respetuoso y devoto de la Virgen de Guadalupe.

Sobreviven su amada esposa María Bertha Montalván Ruiz de García, sus tres amados hijos Víctor Ricardo García Montalván, Doris García Montalván (Fujimoto) y Wilder D. García Montalván, sus dos adorados nietos Brayan Daniel y Gael, sus seis hermanas Felicita Rodríguez, Theresa García, Isabel Bertram, Mara Wetz, Manuela Vargas, Betty García, un hermano, Pedro García, muchos sobrinos, sobrinas, tíos, tías, primos, primas y amigos.

Le precedieron en la muerte su querido hermano Raúl García, quedando su cuñada Neldy García.

Todos los familiares y amigos son bienvenidos a visitar a Victor el Martes 30 de Mayo de 4pm hasta las 8pm en casa funeraria: Cusick Funeral Home localizado en 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876.

El dia Miercoles de 10:00 am hasta las 11:30am se realizara una misa en la casa funeraria. Posteriormente, a las 12:00pm pasaremos al Cementerio Somerset Hills Memorial Park, localizado en 95 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.
