Flemington

Flemington resident Thomas M. Cladek, 62, passed away peacefully on April 17 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The son of William and Mary, Tom was raised in Rahway, NJ, the youngest of four. After graduating from Seton Hall with a degree in art history, he flourished as a highly competitive distance runner, running several marathons. He later moved to Flemington where he worked from home as a calligrapher while raising his three children. He was friendly to all, and he also loved reading about history and rooting for the Yankees. As his kids grew up, he spent his remaining years as an art teacher at Immaculate Conception and long distance track coach at Pingry, where he was adored by students and faculty alike.

He is predeceased by his parents and brother, John. He is survived by his children William, Bernadette, and Thomas; his older siblings Mary and William; his former wife Fran; and his companion Mary Anne.

Visiting hours will be held at the Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville on Wednesday, April 20 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception church on Thursday, April 21 at 10am, with a repast to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Abramson Cancer Center at givingpages.upenn.edu/tmcladek.
