Thomas Earl Christie

August 6, 1950 — July 7, 2023

Thomas Earl Christie, 72, peacefully passed away on July 7, 2023. He was born in Phillipsburg to the late Harold and Joyce Christie (Hawke) and spent most of his childhood in Hunterdon County. After working for a few companies, Thomas found his home at Champion Tire in Ringoes, NJ. There, he dedicated almost 30 years to working on a variety of vehicles, building lasting client relationships, and expanding his knowledge of the automotive industry before retiring in 2016.

Thomas was a passionate sports enthusiast, with a special love for teams such as the Buffalo Bills, LA Dodgers, Washington Huskies, and The Army Black Knights. However, his greatest passion lay in NASCAR, where he was a devoted fan of racing legend Richard Petty. Recently, he had the privilege of attending his first All-Star race, an experience that brought him great excitement. Thomas was also a former member of the American Legion Riders, a group that allowed him to combine his love for motorcycles and riding with a deep commitment to serving veterans, service members, and communities.

Though a man of few words, Thomas possessed an extraordinary heart. He was always the first to offer assistance, eagerly providing a lending hand, a listening ear, or even the shirt off his back. His support was unwavering and unconditional. Firm yet fair, Thomas understood the power of actions, believing that they spoke louder than words.

His most treasured role in life came when he became a pop/poppy, finding immense joy in every moment spent with his grandchildren, Jonathan Matthew and Avery Grace. Their presence brought boundless happiness and fulfillment to his life. Additionally, Thomas adored his grand puppies, Hunter and Sadie, who provided him with warmth and companionship.

Thomas was preceded in death by his dear brother, Howard "Howie" Christie. He is survived by his loving children, Tina L. Eick and her husband George, and Jeffry T. Christie and his wife Katie. Also cherishing his memory are his beloved sister, Donna, brothers, Douglas and Byron, as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, all of whom were deeply touched by his presence throughout his life.

In accordance with his wishes, Thomas's remains will be spread in Daytona Beach just before the Daytona 500 in 2024, honoring his connection to NASCAR and his love for the sport.

May Thomas Earl Christie be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering support, and the joy he found in his family and passions.
