Signa Ann Cook, 63, died peacefully on May 3, 2023.
Born in Carlisle, PA to the late Lee and Helena McAlister, Signa was a graduate of Carlisle High School in 1977.
While they were both residing in Carlisle, Gary Cook went into a Hardee’s after his shift as a radio announcer. It was there that he met Signa, the woman who would eventually be his future wife and mother of his children, as well as his partner in teaching and in faith.
After getting married, Signa and Gary were members and workers in churches in Dover Delaware, Rose Bud Arkansas, Seaford Delaware and Warrington Pennsylvania before moving to China where she worked as an English teacher. After several years of teaching at multiple different universities, the pair decided to return to America and settled in Bridgewater in 2013.
She was proud of her active involvement in the Church, including working at a Christian summer camp in Pennsylvania where she taught children about the Bible and crafting. She also loved to read and could never put a book down, no matter the genre. One of the places she particularly enjoyed reading and spending time at was the beach on beautiful Hainan Island in China, basking in the seventy-degree January weather. Signa was also known for her love of sending out thoughtful cards of encouragement to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Helena McAlister as well as her brother, Jeff McAlister.
Surviving Signa are her loving husband, Gary Cook, and her daughters, Summer Lee Boggess and husband Joel, Hannah Ruth Cook and husband Kevin, and Kirah Helene Hall and husband Travis.
A Funeral service will be held on May 13, 2023, at 11am at Garretson Road Church of Christ, 570 Garretson Road, Bridgewater, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Camp Manatawny, 33 Camp Road, Douglassville, PA 19518
