Ruth Claire Snow Vander Pyle, nee Hosmer, 92, died peacefully on April 5, 2024.
Born in Newark to the late Albert and Elizabeth Hosmer (nee Frey), she was raised in Bloomfield where she was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, Class of 1949. She went on to work for The Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company, where she met the late Curtis R. Snow. The two were married and settled to Whippany where they raised their three children. After devoting her life to being a wife and mother, she entered back into the workforce as the Office Manager of Ed-Tech Service Co. in Chatham for fifteen years.
Ruth had a love of music and faith. She was a talented pianist and singer who often taught piano lessons and could sing any hymn off hand. Ruth carried her love of music and faith throughout her life even into her final days. She was a member of the first Presbyterian Church in Whippany where she was very active in the choir. Ruth became a member of the Parsippany Baptist Church when she was widowed, where she met her second husband, Charles Vander Pyle. She shared her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ with her church, family, and friends, always taking time to pray and join in fellowship. Ruth loved Bible Study and spending quality time with her family. Her Christian heart was one of love and togetherness which was felt by every person who was blessed enough to have her in their life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Curtis Redfield Snow, her dear second husband of 14 years, Charles Vander Pyle, her dear sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Earl Bowman, and brother and sister-in-law, David and Bunny Hosmer.
Surviving are her loving children, Arthur C. Snow and Dot Mullen, Carol Snow Milne, and Ronald K. Snow and wife Michele, her cherished grandchildren David Milne, Stephanie Terrone and husband Chris, Steven Milne and wife Ellie, Amy Milne, Andrew Milne, Melissa Snow, Michael Snow, and great grandchildren Samuel, Audrey, and Emma, her dear stepchildren Curtis R. Snow, Jr. and wife Karen, Robert Snow, Daria Lisco and husband Rich, Liz Vigren and husband John, as well as her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
