Ruth Piscadlo, 93, died peacefully on July 28, 2024.
Ruth was born in New Brunswick to the late Joseph and Stella Szymanski on August 19, 1930, and raised on her family farm in Hillsborough, NJ. There, she learned at a young age the importance of dedication to family and hard work, values she would pass on to future generations.
She met the love of her life, Joseph Piscadlo, at a polka dance. They would marry on October 26, 1949, and settle down on part of her family’s dairy farm in Hillsborough. A Mother of three boys, Ruth was tough as nails and incredibly resilient, an important skill set for her eventual promotion to Grandmother of six grandchildren and a rotating cast of many family dogs.
After retiring from her roles at Ethicon and Cemco Tool Company, Ruth spent her days maintaining her home, her property’s many gardens, and the jewel of the summer season: the family pool. Ruth did much of this alone as a widow of 34 years, never complaining about the work or the many challenges life presented her. Instead, she chose to handle them quietly with grace and sometimes a feisty spirit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Piscadlo, her dear siblings, Frank, Florence, Chester, and Eugenia.
Surviving are her loving sons, Joe Piscadlo and wife Kathy, Tom Piscadlo and wife Deb, and David Piscadlo and his partner Rosann; her cherished grandchildren Jeff (Launa), Kevin (Laura), Kimberly (Chris), Kaitlyn (Graham), Kristen, and Michael; her great-grandchildren Ilona, Evelyn, Amari, Elliot, and Aaron; and her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Friday, August 2, 2024 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 34 Yorktown Rd, Hillsborough.
Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough.
