Rose Curtis

April 1, 1959 – September 2, 2026

Rose Curtis, 67, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 2, 2026.

Rose was born on April 1, 1959, in Newark, New Jersey, to Joseph and Geraldine Gomez. She graduated from East Side High School in Newark. On October 20, 1984, Rose married Walter Curtis at St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny, New Jersey. Together, they built a life and raised their family in Branchburg, New Jersey. Rose was a devoted wife to Walter throughout their more than four decades together. She worked as a data entry clerk at Chubb Insurance, where she remained until 2019. Rose was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Bridgewater.

Rose was a fiercely loving and protective mother who cared deeply for her family. She loved her children, Ryan and Marisa, completely, and becoming a grandmother brought Rose tremendous joy. She absolutely adored her granddaughters, Ava, Camila, and Charlotte, and treasured the time she was able to spend with them.

Rose enjoyed playing bingo, socializing with friends, listening to live music, dancing, and shopping for home décor. She also had a particular fondness for dragonflies and pineapples, favorites that became unmistakably associated with her over the years.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, Joseph A. Gomez and Geraldine Gomez; her brothers, Gerard Gomez and Anthony Gomez; and her sisters, Martha Laubauskas, Catherine Hussey, Geraldine Gomez, Elaine Alers, Elizabeth Fleig; and the family pug, Cheswick.

Rose is survived by her devoted husband, Walter Curtis; her son, Ryan Curtis and his wife Katrina; her daughter, Marisa Fonseca and her husband, Christian; her beloved granddaughters, Ava, Camila, and Charlotte; her sister, Joan Donofrio and her husband, Gino; her brother, Joseph Gomez and his wife, Jeanne; and her sister, Marie Nelson and her husband, Eric; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Tremblay and her husband, Mark; and her puppy, Rooney.

Rose will be remembered for her humor, her strength, her authentic personality, and above all, the fierce love she had for her family. Her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved her, but the laughter, stories, and love she gave them will remain a part of her family forever.
