Rose Arnone

d. May 18, 2011

Rose C. Arnone, 81, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 16, 2011, at her home, where she was also born.

She was well-known and loved for her quick wit and sharp sense of humor, as well as for her considerable talents as a cook of Italian cuisine, a florist/flower arranger, a creative seamstress, dedicated caretaker, and as a source of all historic family information. Earlier in her life, Rose worked as a telephone switchboard operator for the Bell Company, and she also was an original partner/owner of the Flower Gallery, a flower shop located in Manville , NJ . Most notably, for over ten years, Rose took care of her beloved Mother, Margaret Arnone, who was a stroke victim. Rose’s unmatched caretaking and healing skills were also instrumental in helping her recently deceased and beloved niece, Roberta Fisher, of Somerville .

Rosie loved antiques and collectable glassware, and spent her last days bestowing her life treasures upon her loved ones. Before succumbing to acute Leukemia, Rose threw a wonderful party at which over 50 of her relatives and friends from all over the country joined in celebrating her life and her family which she loved so much.

Daughter of Margaret and Robert Arnone of Raritan and Sister of Josephine Pieros (all now deceased), Rose lived most of her life on Third Street in Raritan. While never having children of her own, Rose had a large extended family of loving aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews, many of whom visited her often, and she will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by them all. She is most closely survived by her loving nephew Drew Pieros and his children Amelia and Alex, of Felton, CA. Rose is also survived by her nephew by marriage Jerry Fisher and his sons, Justin Fisher of Somerville, and Jarret and wife Daria Fisher of Raritan.

A visiting hour will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue in Somerville from 10am until 11am. A Graveside Service will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Bridgewater at 11:30am where she will be laid to rest next to her parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Rose’s name to The Central NJ Wellness Community, an organization dedicated to providing education, support, and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones (www.cancersupportcnj.org).
