Rodney Thirion

Rodney Thirion, 66, of Branchburg, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2023.

Born in Somerville to the late Richard and Alice Thirion, nee Cook, he was a lifelong resident of Branchburg. He went on to operate his Dad’s gas stations which were the Chevron in Branchburg, the Mobile at the Somerville Circle, and most recently the Gulf in Frenchtown.

Rodney was known for driving around Somerville, Raritan, and Branchburg in his picker van, and was a pro at finding discarded treasures. He was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching football on Sunday. Rodney enjoyed the music of Lionel Ritchie and time spent with his friends and family. He was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Readington.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Alice, and his siblings Richard Thirion, Jr., Kathleen Sutton, and Richard Plesnarski.

Surviving are his siblings Jack Knaus and girlfriend Sally, Michael Thirion, Alaina Bronson and husband Jim, and Rita Tague and husband Danny, as well as his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, dear friends George Brickman, Bob Heintz, Michael Burnardo as well as his entire community at Calvary Bible Church.
