Age 57
Somerville
Roberta (Pieros) Fisher, 57, Loving Wife and Mother, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 11, with her devoted family by her side, after a long and brave battle with Leukemia. Roberta is survived by her Husband, Jerry Fisher, her grammar school sweetheart, with whom she lived happily until her passing – a remarkable relationship lasting 45 of her 57 years.
Roberta found much strength and solace in her deep love of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith was a true hallmark of her personality. Roberta was a graduate of Immaculata High School’s class of 1971, and went on to become a stellar typist, editor, and transcriptionist for a number of business consultants, including her loving brother Drew, with whom she worked for the past 21 years. Roberta also worked part-time for over 10 years as a receptionist for a local dentist, Dr. Paul Haggan of Somerville. Roberta loved her work, and always strove for excellence at every opportunity. Her kind and positive personality will be remembered by everyone she encountered.
Daughter of Andrew and Josephine Pieros of Somerville (now both deceased), Roberta lived her entire life on Brown Street in Somerville, and is also survived by her eldest loving son and his wife, Jarret and Daria Fisher of Raritan; her youngest loving son, Justin Fisher of Somerville; her loving Aunt, Rose Arnone, of Raritan; her loving brother, Drew Pieros of Felton, CA; and her loving Sister-in-Law, Mary Ellen Tyler of Elmira, NY. Roberta is also survived by a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews – all of whom loved her dearly.
Roberta loved the beach, knitting, gardening, and shopping at flea markets. She also loved animals, especially Hercules, her dear pet Golden Lab of 14 years. Roberta was known by all for her many kindnesses, her great sense of humor, and according to her devoted and loving husband, Jerry, she was also an excellent back-seat driver. : ) Roberta will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all of her closely-knit loving family, and by her strong network of dear friends.
Visitation will be from 6 pm to 9 pm on Monday, February 14, at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue in Somerville. A Funeral Service will be held 11am at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 15. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Roberta’s name to The Central NJ Wellness Community, 3 Crossroads Drv., Bedminster, NJ 07921, an organization dedicated to providing education, support, and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones (www.cancersupportcnj.org).
