Robert Koster

October 1, 1940 — June 1, 2025

Robert “Bob” Koster, 84, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025.

Born in Queens, NY to the late Alrich and Elizabeth Koster (née Mulligan), Bob was raised in Elmont and graduated from Sewanhaka Central High School. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob began working at Grumman Aerospace as a Machinist in Bethpage, New York. He played a key role in producing parts for historic NASA projects, including the Apollo Module and the Challenger, as well as the iconic F-14 Tomcat fighter jets. His contributions became part of history, though he remained humble about the impact he had.

Bob met the love of his life, Bernadette Blazek, through mutual friends, and the two were married. They settled in Lindenhurst, where they raised their family and spent more than fifty happy years as part of the community. Bob was known for his kind heart and quiet demeanor, though he would often surprise those around him with a witty remark or unexpected zinger. His caring nature shone through in everything he did, and he was deeply loved by all who knew him.

Bob had a passion for fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He could often be found on his porch, watching the neighborhood go by with a warm smile. In retirement, Bob and Bernadette enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises and frequenting Atlantic City, where they enjoyed their luck together and made cherished memories. Bob also loved food, with a particular fondness for ice cream, always claiming that there was always "room for one more scoop."

Bob was a man of faith, he often attended the 5:00 PM Saturday Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Lindenhurst, NY.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Bernadette Koster; his loving children, Christopher Koster and his wife Meghan, and Jill Koster and her wife Nicole; his cherished grandchildren, Delaney, Jack, and Teagan; his dear sister, Audrey Shultz; and his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Alrich Koster, who passed away just last month. Not to mention his four legged grand-dogs, Bodeen, Marco, and Tucker.
