Rita D. York 90, born May 24th, 1931, of Somerville, died July 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Loving wife of the late Donald York, mother to Joan Hedden (Michael), and Dr. David York (Thomas Lucas). Grandmother to Tim Hedden (Nicole) of Brooklyn, Brian Hedden of Colorado, Jessica Hedden of Colorado, and Matthew Hedden (Jamie) of California. Great grandmother to Lucy and Eli Hankins of Colorado.

Predeceased by her parents Stanley and Mary Dmuchowski and siblings Xenia Brockman, Bob, Priscilla Panettiere, Veronica Brzoska, and Vincent.

She treasured her loving friends in Somerville and was a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She loved being able to help others and be available to use her tremendous organizational skills. After volunteering to help build houses for Habitat for Humanity, she was soon the Vice President of the Northern New Jersey Chapter and held that position for several years. She served as president of the Rosary Altar Society and volunteered at Raritan Valley Community College for the performances and devoted many hours to SHIP.

Visiting hours will be at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville, on Sunday, August 1st, from 2 to 5pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 2nd, at Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville, at 9:30 AM.
