Raymond T. Talamini, 82, died peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2015. Prior to his death, he resided in Peapack.
Born and raised in Bridgewater, he attended Somerville High School. He played varsity football for four years, which sparked his lifelong passion for the sport. Directly out of high school he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in both Japan and Korea. After leaving the Air Force, he was employed by the Johns-Manville Corporation and was a member of their "Quarter Century Club". He also worked part-time as a self-employed mason.
During his formidable years, pursuing his love of the game, he played offensive guard for the "Plainfield Crusaders" of New Jersey, a semi-professional football club. Years later, he served as a line coach for the Bridgewater-Raritan Pop Warner Football League.
An avid Giants fan, he enjoyed following professional football. He also enjoyed fishing and cooking and is remembered for his generosity, tenacity and love of family.
He was married for 35 years and survived his wife, Theodora (Teddi), who passed away in 1993. They lived and raised their family in Bridgewater and later retired to New Hope, PA. He is survived by his two children, his daughter Lisa McCulla and her husband David, of New Hope, PA, and his son Raymond Talamini and his wife Lisa O'Connor-Talamini, of Gladstone.
He was the proud and loving grandfather of four: Kylie and Alyssa McCulla and Sam and Jill Talamini.
A private gathering of family and close friends will be held on Sunday, August 16 th . In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Purple Heart at www.ourpleheartfoundation.orq.
