Raymond F. Elson

Raymond F. Elson, 92, of Bridgewater, died peacefully in the early morning hours on October 7, 2022. His loving wife Ethel Barbara was by his side.

Born in the Richmond Hill section of Queens, NY, to the late Raymond and Marie Elson (nee Hecker). He was preceded in death by his sister, Alvera Winters.

He graduated from St. John’s Preparatory High School in Brooklyn, NY. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United State Army, Signal Corps,stationed in Germany.

After an honorable discharge in 1950, Raymond started his career with AT&T in Manhattan, where he was known as a dedicated manager, serving over forty years. In his retirement, he enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing and relaxing while watching his New York Yankees.

Raymond was a devout husband, fatherand parishioner of St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church in Bridgewater, NJ.He and his wife volunteered for many years working with the Interfaith Hospitality Network caring for the homeless.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 68 years, Ethel Barbara Elson (nee Thompson), his five loving children: Steven Elson and wife Kathy, Gerard Elson and wife Anne, Dr. Martin Elson and fiancé Brooke Tourony, Carolyn Wellinsky and husband Wayne, and Peter Elson; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Jeremy, John, Kelly, Kimberly (Matt), Julia, Danielle, Casey Nicole (Zac), and great-grandchildren Thomas and Emmett.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation at 8:30 am on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on October 10, 2022, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church, Bridgewater.

Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum.
