Ralph Anthony Amatucci, 89, died peacefully on April 18, 2023.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Anthony and Elizabeth Amatucci (nee Anzelone), he was a graduate of Ft. Hamilton High School in Brooklyn and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army.
After his honorable discharge, he met the love of his life, a Jersey Girl, Jacqueline Walsh, on Coney Island one summer. The two were married and settled in Bridgewater where they raised their family. Mr. Amatucci worked for the United States Postal Service in Bridgewater for forty years. He was a Chaplain and Volunteer Fire Fighter with Green Knoll Fire Department where he devoted his time to his community. In his retirement, Mr. Amatucci worked at Somerset Medical Center in patient transport. His kind heart and hard work ethic brought a smile to everyone’s face, and he made a friend of everyone who met him. He was a parishioner at the Church of The Immaculate Conception in Somerville where he served as an usher for many years. Ralph enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren down the shore at the Bel Air Motel in Wildwood Crest, NJ.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Anthony Amatucci, Anna Amatucci Banach, and Augustine Amatucci.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Jacqueline Amatucci, his loving daughters, Elizabeth Amatucci Gleason and husband Terence Gleason, and Jane Amatucci Brunn and husband Dr. James Brunn, his cherished grandchildren, James Brunn and fiancé Sarah, and Ann Brunn and boyfriend Clayton, as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 8:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Somerville.
