Peter Maxwell, 68, died peacefully on September 21, 2026.

Born in Plainfield to the late J. Donald and Joan Maxwell (nee Davis), he was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School.

Peter was an intricate part of his family business operating Ye Olde York Inn. He moved to Florida where he worked for Granger as a Warehouse Manager.

Peter moved back to New Jersey to be closer to his family. Raised in a devoutly Catholic household, he carried a deep connection to his faith throughout his life. He had a natural ability to create poetry, something he found solace in as an outlet for his thoughts and connection to his faith.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, his dear siblings Mary and J. Donald, Jr.

Surviving are his beloved son, Spencer Maxwell, his dear siblings, Paul, Deborah, Meghan, Beth, and Kim, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:30PM on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Green Knoll Fire Department,606 N Bridge Street, Bridgewater.
