Peter D’Elia, Jr., 70, died peacefully at home on August 28, 2026.

Born and raised in in Jersey City, to the late Peter, Sr. and Lucia “Lucy D’Elia, nee Pacciano, he was graduate of Hudson Catholic High School. Peter went on to become a Machinist and in 1990 started Service Machine Company with his father. He had a profound sense of comfort working alongside his father, they shared all of the highs and lows of business together as a family. Peter learned integrity and honesty is what drove a successful company and carried Service Machine Company into the year 2026. They served the New Jersey/ New York Metropolitan area providing goods and services for over thirty-five years to clients that kept family business running.

Mr. D’Elia was a man of strong character and could seem tough at times, but his ingenious nature made him someone you had to love. His quick wit brought laughter in an instant, turning strangers into friends no matter where he was. Peter meant what he said, and said what he meant; his integrity brought him renowned respect. He was a man of good company, he enjoyed the quality time spent with his friends and family over a good meal. He met the love of his life, Lori Cadavero, and they were an amazing team. They raised their son in Branchburg and were able to travel together, whether for work or for vacation, creating memories that last a lifetime. Peter led by example, a quiet humility that silently lent a helping hand to those in need or suffering with no expectations in return. He gave of himself not for the recognition, but for the value it brought in enriching other’s lives.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lori D’Elia, his cherished son James D’Elia and wife Allison, as well as his extended family, colleagues, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00PM.
