Peter M. Allena, 68, a lifelong Somerville resident died peacefully at home on June 16, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Pete was a member of Carpenters Local 455 in Somerville, NJ. As a skilled carpenter, he eventually went on to have his own business, PA Contrators.

Pete was proud to be the patriarch of his family, a good friend to many, and a man that could always be counted on. Pete enjoyed backyard parties, grilling, sociallizing, and watching sports.

Pete was well known throughout the town of Somerville by many. Infamous for his cruises through town in his van, his strong opinions, and his willingness to provide unsolicited feedback. One of Pete’s favorite traditions was his Somerville Memorial Day Bike Race gatherings at “the bank”, fun was had by all and this tradition continues today. Pete was above all passionate and proud of all his children and grandchildren.

Pete was the son of the late Andrew and Edna Allena. Predeceased by his brother Andrew and his loyal dog Hogan. Survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathy of Somerville, NJ. Also surviving are his four devoted children; Ian (Taryn), Eric (Tammy), Rebecca (Victor) and Karen; four brothers David, Thomas, Christopher, and Paul. Survived also by his treasured grandchildren; Tres, Tyler, Casey, Adrianna, Elle, Andrew, Cody, Marina and Ashlyn.

Pete’s personality was big and his heart was even bigger. He will be sadly missed by many.

All are welcome for visitation to take place at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville NJ 08876 on Friday June 18th from 5-8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville NJ 08876 on Saturday June 19th at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the Somerville Rescue Squad, 21 Park Avenue, Somerville NJ 08876.
