Paul R. Wildgen entered eternal life on Friday, January 9, 2015, at the age of 99. Paul was born in Somerville, NJ, on December 25, 1915 to Paul C. and Theresa V. Wildgen. He was a lifelong resident of Somerville and Bridgewater. Paul graduated from Somerville High School in 1933 and Newark College of Engineering in 1938. He began his career with Union Carbide Corporation in 1940 as an electrical engineer and rose through the ranks, retiring in 1978.


He was an avid golfer at Raritan Valley Country Club and a master woodworker in his spare time. He enjoyed traveling the country in his motor home and his favorite spot was close to home in Kutztown, PA. But he will be most remembered for his vivid story telling about growing up on Davenport Street in Somerville.

Paul was predeceased by his son, Robert C. Wildgen who died in 1950, his first wife, Loretta Partyka Wildgen who died in 1959, his daughter Andrea Stone in 2002, and his second wife, Barbara Stone Wildgen in 2005.
Surviving are his children Paul and his wife Pat, Thomas and his wife Pat, Dana Boenzi and her husband Vince, Mark and his wife Jan, Mary Butler and her husband Bill, Elaine Solloway and her husband Jim, and Clare Altonji and her husband Greg. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2pm - 5pm at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015, at 9:30 at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville, NJ. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Somerville, NJ.
