Patricia Kalmback Mcnally

Patricia Kalmback McNally, 81, died peacefully surrounded by family on March 26, 2023.


Patricia was born on November 7th, 1941 in Somerville, New Jersey to parents Martha (Genova) and Phillip Kalmback. She had two younger sisters, Mary Elizabeth Ferris and Phyllis Kalmback, and one younger brother, Kevin Kalmback. She was a graduate of Somerville High School in 1959 and attended the St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing to obtain her degree as a registered nurse in 1962. She proceeded to graduate from Trenton State College in 1973 with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing.


In her young adult life, Patricia started working as a school nurse for the Franklin Township Board of Education, then for the Branchburg Township Board of Education until 1973. She then moved on to becoming the lead school nurse and social worker on the Child Study Team at Somerville’s former Lafayette School in 1973. She held the role of Health Chairman for the Somerset County P.T.A. Board of Managers from 1971 to 1972. She was a member of the Board of Health of the Borough of Somerville, as well as a member of the Professional Advisory Committee to the Somerset County Mental Health Board in 1974. She was well known within the community for both her charity work and her political contributions. She coordinated the Branchburg Amblyopia Clinic to screen and detect visual problems with preschoolers. She served as a door-to-door volunteer to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, Heart Association, March of Dimes, and the Red Cross. In 1974, she was awarded the “Outstanding Young Republican of the Year” award by the New Jersey State Young Republicans for her campaign chairman work. Prior to being awarded, she served as a member of the Somerville Republican Club, the New Jersey Federation of Republican Women, and the Young Republican National Federation Platform Committee.


Later in life, Patricia met her beloved late husband, Thomas McNally on a blind date, after love at first sight they married in 1987. She was a devout catholic and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Some of her favorite hobbies included playing golf and traveling the world. She was a talented cook and an avid baker, and loved to entertain. Most importantly, she loved her family. Although she did not have any children of her own, she loved and cherished her niece and five nephews, and her three great nieces and great nephew. She has made a lasting impact on her family, friends, and her community with her commitment to hard work and passion for life.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.


A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday March 31,2023 at 10:00AM at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.


Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Funeral Home beginning at 9:00 AM


Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Somerville
