Michael Charles Wolkow, 82, died peacefully at home on January 10, 2025.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Jacob and Gertrude Wolkow (nee Liebman), he went on to attend City College New York-Brooklyn College with a degree in Chemistry, receiving an officer’s commission with the United States Army through R.O.T.C. upon graduation.
He met the love of his life, Annette Lipman in high school, and the two were married in 1963. They moved from Brooklyn to settle in Oceanside, New York where they raised their two sons Howard and Larry.
During his active service, he was stationed in Germany where he and Annette took advantage of the periodic leave time to explore Europe together. Eventually entering the Army Reserves in 1969. He received a Masters Degree from Iona College and became a teacher. Michael taught Chemistry at Brooklyn Technical High School for 35 years. He was beloved by teachers and students alike.
Michael and Annette Wolkow enjoyed traveling together, especially taking cruises. He was a history buff, especially fascinated with World War II. Michael and Annette were movie buffs, Casablanca being their favorite, which he watched on his last day on earth.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annette Wolkow, and recently his dear son, Howard Wolkow.
Surviving are his loving son, Larry Wolkow and wife Yoh Ueda-Wolkow, his daughter in law Jean Chang Wolkow, granddaughter Abigail Rose Wolkow, whom he absolutely adored, his brother Allen Wolkow and wife Sheila, and nieces Laura and Cindy.
