Michael William Laverty, 70, died peacefully on January 26, 2026.

Michael grew up in Summit and Berkeley Heights, NJ. In his early years, Michael followed his father's trade as a drywall installer and finisher. After graduating from Gov. Livingston high school, he went on to study theology at Seton Hall University. He continued his studies on his own in philosophy, theology, and mathematics. Also, he was a gifted chess player. Besides his interests, Michael was a kind and loving brother and will be very missed by his family. He is survived by three sisters, two brothers, two nieces, and a grandniece. He was predeceased by his parents and nephew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Inurnment will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery, 1295 Plainfield Ave, Watchung.
