Michael J. Kicia, 75 of Readington Township, NJ died on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Rehab at River’s Edge in Raritan, NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 14 at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville, NJ. Interment will be held on Saturday morning, September 15 at 11:00 am at Woodbine Cemetery and Mausoleum in Oceanport, NJ. Cusick Funeral Home of Somerville, NJ will handle the funeral arrangements.

Mr. Kicia was born on January 6, 1943 in Somerville, NJ and attended the New Jersey School for the Deaf in Trenton, NJ. He subsequently worked in the family businesses, which included dry cleaning and seasonal pool management.

Mr. Kicia was a longtime employee of Roma Food Enterprises, Inc. in Piscataway, NJ until his retirement from the company in 2008. There he drove 18-wheeler trucks all over the New York/New Jersey metropolitan region. Driving was his true source of relaxation and enjoyment, and was not in any way compromised by his disability.

Much of his adult life was spent living in Red Bank, NJ with his mother Phyllis Christiansen and step-father Stanley Christiansen. The family travelled extensively. After his mother’s death in 2003, Mr. Kicia moved to ReadingtonTownship and lived at Park Place, a mobile home community, for the last 15 years of his life.

Mr. Kicia was predeceased by his parents, his sister Phyllis and brother Anthony, and his cousins Gertrude and Michael.
​His survivors include his cousin Michael’s widow Joan Mathis and son Dale Mathis, his brother Anthony’s two sons Anthony and Reid, and his cousin Gertrude’s three children, Susan, Mark, and Kurt Ohnmacht.
