Meryl Anne Wasilewski, 25, of Bridgewater, passed away in her apartment in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on Sunday, October 11, 2015, just two weeks shy of her 26th birthday.

Born in New Brunswick at St. Peter’s Hospital, Meryl grew up in Bridgewater and graduated from Bridgewater Raritan High School in 2007. She attended Raritan Valley Community College for two semesters.

Meryl was full of life and her infectious laugh and deep empathy for people was a magnet for friends. In recovery, Meryl had celebrated two years of sobriety in April of this year. She was very active with the recovery community in south Florida, specifically through Pathway to HopeTreatment Center in Ft. Lauderdale. She often spoke of her addiction experience to groups at the center and other recovery meetings in south Florida. She was also a sponsor,helping other addicts through the recovery process.

In recent years, Meryl had become quite an accomplished player of the ukulele. She wrote songs and performed at clubs and coffee houses in Florida. Both an avid animal lover and an environmentalist, Meryl’s goal was to return to college and pursue a degree in environmental studies.

In addition to the many adoring friends she leaves behind, Meryl is survived by her mother, Gail, sister, Dana, and father, Alfred. A Memorial Service will take place at 2 pm, on Saturday, October 24, at Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 300 Union Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876.
