Maureen T Higgins, nee Doonan, 97, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024.
Born in Brooklyn, New York to the late James and Mary Doonan (nee Reynolds), she was a graduate of St. Teresa High School. She met the love of her life, Peter
Higgins, who proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. When he returned, the two were married, and settled in Park Slope before
moving to E. 28th Street where they would have 5 children together creating a large family full of love and blessings. She loved her family tremendously and managed all their schedules while working full time for both Irving Trust Bank in Manhattan and for Mark Zelnick at his hearing aid store for over 20 years.
Maureen and Peter purchased a secondary residence in Vernon, NJ in the mid 70’s where they would escape the city and enjoy making memories in the country. Their children and grandchildren would enjoy many memories in the Vernon countryside often visiting Action Park during the summers. Maureen was full of life, and she loved to sing and dance. She enjoyed family gatherings surrounded by good food, great stories, and lots of love. Maureen would endure the loss of her beloved husband Peter in 1993. She remained in Brooklyn until the early 2000’s before moving to Bridgewater, NJ.
