Maureen Heaney

October 29, 1945 – January 9, 2026

Maureen Heaney, born in Queens, New York, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the age of 80. She was a woman whose joy and light could fill any room she entered.

She was born in Queens, New York and was a graduate of The Assisium High School. Maureen went on to work as a manager at The Thomas J. Cute Residence. She devoted herself to providing compassion and dignity to the residence she managed, a quality about her that she carried throughout her life.

She settled in Q Gardens where she had her cherished daughter, and was a former resident of Woodside and Long Island. Maureen received the greatest promotion of her life when she became a grandmother. She then moved to New Jersey to watch her granddaughter grow and create memories that will last a lifetime. At the end of her life, the full circle of compassionate care came when Maureen was a beloved resident of Waterfront in Bridgewater. She was so impactful on everyone around her and was a vibrant queen in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Maureen loved singing, especially oldies, and had a natural way of turning ordinary moments into joyful gatherings. Her faith in God was central to her life, and her warmth, laughter, and spirit touched everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Dunn, her stepfather, Tommy Dunn, and her son-in-law, Timothy Rought

.She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Kimberly Rought; her granddaughters, Bailey Rought, Amber Rought, and Kristen Rought; her grandsons, Johnny Bolster (Randi), Dillon Rought, and Devin Rought (Zara); and numerous great-grandchildren who brought her great pride and joy.

Maureen will be remembered for her loving heart, her joyful spirit, and the light she brought into the lives of so many.

A Celebration of Life will be announced to be held at Waterfront.
