Marvin Lieberman

April 26, 1935 — March 23, 2023

Marvin Samuel Lieberman

Marvin was born on April 26, 1935, in Bronx, New York, to Abraham and Gertrude Lieberman. He grew up in Somerville, New Jersey, before moving to Hillsborough, New Jersey, where he lived for fifty years with his wife, Kathryn Fuhrer Lieberman. He later moved to Somerset, New Jersey, where he lived until his passing on March 23, 2023.

Marvin entered Lafayette College in 1951 as a “Ford Foundation Scholar” at the age of sixteen, skipping his senior year at Somerville High School. Upon graduating with distinction from Lafayette, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for more than three years. Marvin began his law education at Georgetown University and ultimately received his Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law School in 1962. In 1971, having been an associate and then a partner in the law firm Levinson, Conover, Lieberman and Fink (now Levinson Axelrod), Marvin opened his own practice, which became known as Lieberman, Ryan, Forrest, and Voorhees, and continued to specialize in the representation of those who had been injured or disabled. Marvin was certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney, initially in 1985 and again on two subsequent occasions, and has been recognized in the New Jersey Magazine as one of the state’s outstanding personal injury lawyers.

Marvin was an avid learner; he loved books, history, and traveling the world with his late wife, whom he adored. He loved spending time at the beach, on his boat, and in Atlantic City’s casinos. He loved to golf, play basketball, and watch the Mets and the Giants. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and countless number of friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathryn Fuhrer Lieberman in 2013

Marvin is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Kuhns Gacos (James), and her children, Alexander Gacos (Victoria Vitarelli) and Kathryn L. Gacos; his son Willis Kuhns’ (pre-deceased 2006) children, Shelby Kuhns and Rebecca Kuhns Brown (Paul); and his sister, Sharon Gavin (Richard).
