Marilee Boughner

Marilee Boughner, from Somerville, New Jersey, died on September 25, 2022 at the age of 68.

Daughter of the late Vincent and Helen Metzler (nee Suk), Marilee was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1972. She met and married the love of her life, Douglas E. Boughner, and settled in Somerville. They enjoyed time together with their animals and quality time with their family.

Marilee studied special education and worked as a Special Education Teacher’s Assistant at Vanderveer Elementary School where she dedicated herself to helping children for decades.

Growing up, she enjoyed trips to the shore, something that continued into adulthood. She was known as the “cool aunt” and the quality time spent with her nieces and nephews created memories to last for generations. She liked driving and taking day trips. After Hurricane Sandy hit New Jersey, Marilee and her sister Carolyn drove the entire length of the shore to check on their homes and the places that they were fond of when they were growing up. Marilee was an avid reader and was known for her kind heart and humorous soul.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Douglas E. Boughner and dear sister Linda Louise Metzler.

Surviving are loving siblings--Carolyn (Patricia) and Vincent (Judi); her cherished nieces and nephews-- Jenna (Matt), Carly (Jackson), Bethann, Kristin (David), Todd (Dave), Robert, and April; and her great nieces and nephew--Molly, Madelyn, Brayden, Ryan, Reagan, and Hadley; as well as her extended family and friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Inurnment will follow at New Cemetery, 192 S. Bridge Street, Somerville.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marilee’s memory to Lincoln Hose Fire Company in Somerville, New Jersey.
