Margaret Miller, age 97, died at home.
She was born in Woodbridge, NJ, the daughter of John and Caroline McGowan. She was raised in Elizabeth, then resided in Edison for 31 years and then Toms River for 20 years before moving to Somerville.
For many years, she was a secretary and cub scout den mother. She was also a volunteer for the Emergency Food Pantry of Ocean County in Toms River for 7 years. Her pastime hobby was her favorite cross stitch.
She was predeceased by her husband, George, and her son Mark, in 1993. Also, her parents, John and Caroline McGowan, sister Carole McGivern and husband Jerry, brother John McGowan, sister Elizabeth Brennan and her husband Frank, sister Ruth Urig and her husband Bob, and son-in-law Kevin Staba.
Surviving are her son William G. and Janet Miller of Alexandria Twp., daughter Margaret (Peggy) Staba of Garwood. Grandchildren: Kaylynn and her husband Brian Cann, both serving in the US Air Force stationed in Japan, and Colleen Staba.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 14, 2025, at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.
