Margaret Delin, a 55 year resident of Raritan, NJ, has died at the age of 95. She was married for sixty years to her husband, Carl Delin, who predeceased her in 2002.

Margaret was born to William and Adele Battschinger Staggand raised in West Orange, NJ. She was predeceased by her brothers George, William, Phillip and Kenneth Stagg.

​Margaret loved sharing her passion and knowledge of trees, flowers, local birds, and gardening. She was a retiree of the Somerset County Extension Service of Rutgers, where she was an administrative assistant.

She spent many hours over the years proudly cooking and baking for her big family. Thanksgiving became so large that additional tables had to be added, and no family friend was ever turned away. She is survived by her daughters Judi Boss and Joyce Biondo, son and daughter-in-law, Roger & Anne Delin, daughter Jill & husband Arthur Marsh; grandchildren Todd VanderVeer & wife Lisa, Scott VanderVeer & wife Monina, Edward Cinelli & Candy McDermott, Michael Delin & wife Lisa, Jodi Geoghegan & husband John, Brenda States & husband Brian, Robert Delin & wife Melanie, Margaret (Meg) Opalack & partner Dan Hartmann, and Kelsey Opalack & fiancé Curtis Beebe. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Bryan Espinoza, Corrin VanderVeer, Jessica VanderVeer, Ivan Alexandra VanderVeer, Lennon VanderVeer, Duncan Geoghegan, Caleb States, Delaney States, James Delin, Olivia Delin, Maxwell Delin, great-great-granchildren Masen, Makayla, and Bailey, many loving nieces and nephews, and some great friends she has come to “adopt” over the years.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 11 from 5pm to 9pm at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. Funeral Service Saturday morning, March 12, at 10am at the funeral home followed by final prayers at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge …

Margaret had friends with children who faced physical and mental challenges from birth who held a special place in her heart. As such, donations may be made to the Somerville Elks -Special Needs Children’s Committee, 375 Union Ave, Bridgewater, NJ 08807, in lieu of flowers.
