Madeline Anne Etzold, 86, died peacefully on May 30, 2025.
Born in Plainfield to the late Stephen and Evelyn Tripka, she was raised in Garwood and was a graduate of Johnathan Dayton Regional High School.
She went on to work for Merck as an Administrative Associate and stayed with the company for more than 27 years before she retired in 1999. After retiring in 1999, Madeline continued to temp at Merck for many years. Madeline advanced with the company through the technology and location changes through the life of the company location.
She was a former resident of North Plainfield before settling to Bridgewater where she raised her family. She spent over sixty years in Bridgewater and enjoyed her home, especially tending to her garden of incredible flowers. Her family enjoyed camping trips, something that has lasted through generations to her great-grandchildren. The Etzold family took countless beach trips to LBI and enjoyed the quality time spent together. She was a 4-H leader and very involved with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought so much joy to her life. She was a member of the former Slavic Heritage Society and a parishioner at The Church of The Immaculate Conception in Somerville.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Etzold, and her dear siblings, Dorothy, Eleanore, Edward, Helen, Evelyn, and Steven.
Surviving are her youngest sister Sandra McDanolds, her loving children, Stephen R. Etzold and Jennifer R. Miller, her adored grandchildren Steven Miller and wife Jenna, Michael Miller, and Ashley Gottlieb and husband Dylan, her cherished great-grandchildren, Madison, Miles, and Steven, as well as her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Monday, June 16, 2025, at The Catholic Church of St. Ann, 45 Anderson Street, Raritan.
