Luis Rodriguez, 79, died peacefully on December 3, 2022.
Born and raised in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, he moved to New York City at the age of 20 and became a well-known member of the Dominican community. A jack of all trades Mr. Rodriguez was a hard worker and held many jobs, always aspiring to be his own boss. Luis’ drive and dedication led him to own and operate a Dominican hair salon before expanding to his own shipping and handling company.
Luis enjoyed his 1960’s white Camaro, watching baseball and boxing, and was an avid Domino’s player, always finding himself at a weekly game. He was the well trusted operator of the Dominican Lottery and had an exceptional gift for mathematics.
Always up on current affairs and politics, he relished a good debate amongst friends. He enjoyed traveling to the Dominican Republic frequently and spending quality time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving family, nine children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and community friends.
