Lucille Farrell Gerlock

Lucille Gerlock, nee Farrell, 83, of Bridgewater, NJ, died peacefully on March 6, 2022, at her home. Born in Dublin, Ireland to the late Joseph and Bridget Farrell (nee Meehan), she attended the Our Lady of Mercy Convent school before graduating from Skerry’s College in Dublin. Lucille then immigrated to America where she worked for Life Magazine as an executive secretary in Manhattan. On June 6, 1961, she married the love of her life, the late Richard J. Gerlock, and dedicated her life to raising their four children. As her children got older, Lucille was employed by Max Span Realtor, worked for Millicent Fenwick’s Campaign and was the office manager for Claremont Construction for 25 years before her retirement. She was a devout parishioner of St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church in Bridgewater where she was an eucharistic minister for many years. Lucille had an adventurous spirit, enjoyed traveling and was very active throughout her life. One of her favorite things to do was go swimming and loved getting dressed up to go to a party. She was a genuine woman with a strong energetic soul with a devout faith in God and her family. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife, fun loving mother, and a friend whose kindness touched everyone. Lucille was a loving grandmother and enjoyed the quality time spent with her children and grandchildren. Later in life, Lucille enjoyed her companionship with Robert (Bob) Meyer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Richard J. Gerlock in 2016 as well as her dear sisters Dolores Byrne, Mary Camera, and Ilene Heffernan. Surviving are her loving children, Richard Joseph Gerlock Jr. (wife Jana), Deirdre Igo (husband Kevin), Michael Gerlock (wife Leticia), and Meghan Canale (husband Jake); her cherished grandchildren, Bridget, Michael, Claire, Adam, Amelia, Ian, Oliver, Brigid, Annabelle and Michael Jr, her dear sisters Vivian Condon (Ireland) and Frances Green (England), as well as her nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00PM at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux R. C. Church, 500 U.S. Highway 22, Bridgewater. Family and friends are welcome to gather beginning at 9:00AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater.
