Linda Louise Metzler

Linda Louise Metzler passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 64.

The youngest child of Helen and Vincent Metzler, Linda was a little sister to Vinny, Marilee, and Carolyn Metzler. She was born and raised in Somerville, NJ, and kept fond memories of her classmates, friends, and community in her heart. She would graduate from Somerville High School in 1976 and go on to attend Stockton and NYU before obtaining her Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers University.

Known for her wisdom and good nature, Linda found her calling in social work and guided many suffering souls towards recovery. She held a variety of positions through her professional career, and many children and adults benefited from her guidance. She was fulfilled by her relationships with clients and coworkers who shared her positive mindset and gave all of herself to whoever needed her. Linda’s life work will ripple through time, indirectly affecting more people than she could have ever known during her time on Earth.

In her free time, Linda was a lover of all good things in life. She felt music deeply and would sing on her car rides, often enjoying her commute to work because of what was on the radio that day. She appreciated the wonder of a concert and was lucky enough to see some of her favorites and to take her children to see their favorites. An adventurous spirit, Linda was no stranger to road trips and vacations, whether spontaneous or planned, and she enjoyed what the world had to offer her. The summer season was well known to be a time for Linda to relax and enjoy the sunshine and water. She was transfixed by the color blue and soothed by the sounds of waves. Her family holds dear their memories of beach days and boat trips, or floating in the backyard pool. Her absence can be felt most on a beautiful day.

Surviving Linda are her three daughters Jenna (Matthew), Carly, and Bethann; her granddaughters Molly and Madelyn; her brother Vincent (Judi); her sister Carolyn (Patricia); and her nieces and nephews Kristen (David), Todd (Dave), Robert, and April.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville, NJ. Inurnment will follow at New Cemetery, 192 S. Bridge Street, Somerville, NJ.
