Laurie Anne Petersen (Kelly) passed away peacefully at her home in Little River, SC on Monday, December 8, 2025. Laurie was born September 24, 1961 in Summit, NJ to Jack and Bobbie Kelly. She was raised in Somerville, NJ and graduated from Somerville public schools.

Laurie graduated from Belmont Abbey College in 1983. After graduation Laurie met and fell in love and married her husband Bill Petersen on September 12, 1987. After marriage they chose to start their journey together in Flemington, NJ before moving to Stewartsville and finally to Columbia, NJ. In 2019 they relocated to Little River, SC and then purchased their vacation home on Lake Murray.

Laurie started her working career in the mortgage industry. Her first position was as an office manager working alongside her father Jack. After a few years, she moved on to work as an underwriter for various companies and was eventually promoted to Regional Underwriting Manager in the northeast region. Laurie retired in 2022 to enjoy life at her lake house. She enjoyed reading, crafting, boating, and entertaining her friends and family.

Laurie was predeceased by her father John A (Jack) Kelly and her brothers Michael P Kelly, and Matthew J. Kelly. She is survived by her mother Bobbie Kelly, husband Bill Petersen, sister Kristen McCann (James), and sister-in-law Colleen Kelly. She leaves her nephew Michael P. Kelly Jr. (Jessica), niece Kristen Kelly (Caleb) and great nieces Paige and Millie, and numerous cousins. She also leaves her beloved Westies, Quincy, Charlie, and Tucker.

Laurie was a loved friend to many and will be greatly missed by all that met her.

Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on January 2nd, 2026, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville, NJ.
