Laura Marie Kassim

1969 – 2026

Laura Marie Kassim, née Daniel, 57, died peacefully on July 30, 2026.

Born and raised in Somerville to the late Alfred Edward and Alberta Mae Daniel (née Johnson), she was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1987.

She went on to meet the love of her life, the late Zaid Kassim, and together they settled in Hillsborough. Laura devoted herself to raising her sons, staying active in their academic and sporting pursuits throughout their lives.

Laura loved cooking and cherished nothing more than having her family around her. She had a natural artistic talent, especially for drawing, and her eye for beauty showed in everything she touched. Her home was always beautifully decorated, and she took the same care with her own appearance. She loved getting her hair done, shopping, and staying on top of fashion.

Laura had a true spirit for giving. She was an incredible neighbor and friend, always ready to lend a hand or offer a ride to anyone in need. Her greatest joy came when she became a grandmother; her love for her grandchildren was endless, and it will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zaid Kassim, and her brother, Michael Daniel.

She is survived by her loving sons, Jamal Kassim and his wife Gabriela, and Jamile Adoboe; her cherished grandchildren, Jamari and Gia; her dear siblings, Ronald Daniel and Terry Daniel-Mensah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Memorial visitation will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

A prayer service will be held at 12:00PM.
