Kathryn M. Ayer, wife of the late Albert S. Ayer, died quietly on February 9 at Fellowship Village, Basking Ridge, with her niece K. Lynne Moore (and husband Gordon) of Hellertown, PA. at her side. Mrs. Ayer was born in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Canada to the late Alonzo and Grace (MacLennan) Murray on August 26, 1917. She was a graduate of St. Michael's Hospital Nursing School in Toronto, Canada, and received her post graduate degree from Women's Hospital, New York, NY where she served as Head Nurse of Obs., Assist. Supervisor of OR, and later Charge Nurse of OR for Lago Oil & Trans., Aruba, Netherland Antilles. Mrs. Ayer also worked at Raritan Valley Hospital and John E. Runnells Hospital as a Charge Nurse.
Kathryn's siblings Elbert Murray, RCAF (died in WWII, 1943) and Jeanne Decker of Bridgewater (died 2006) predeceased her. Besides her niece K. Lynne Moore and her husband Gordon, she leaves behind a nephew Fosdick Ayer (wife Nancy).
Mrs. Ayer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Somerville and a member of the Women's Missionary Society.
At Mrs. Ayer's request, there will be no viewing, and a graveside service will be held at the Brookside Cemetery in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada. Arrangements are entrusted to the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville, NJ and Mac Quarries Funeral Home, Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Somerville, NJ in memory of Mrs. Ayer.
