SmithSomervilleKathleen Smith passed away on October 23, 2013 at Foothill Acres in Hillsborough.Kathleen was born in England and came to the United States as a child and settled in New York City with her mother, father and three siblings. She graduated from Cathedral High School in NewYork City and subsequently worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was there she met her late husband Arthur E. Smith, the former Mayor of Somerville and were married at Saint Catherine of Genoa's in New York City.Kathleen spent most of her life in Somerville up until the past three years with her husband Art who died in 1989 and three children Christian, Kathleen and Andrew. She and her husband formed and managed the Arthur E.Smith Insurance Agency in 1950 through 2003. Kathleen is survived by her children Christian and his wife Jill, Kathleen and her husband Warren and Andrew and his wife Peggy and well as nine grandchildren (Chris Smith, Kelly Smith-Ryan, Melissa Mazepa, Matthew Mazepa, Erin Smith, Lindsey Smith, Paige Meade, Seth Meade and Lauren Smith). In addition, she is survived by her sisters Joan Delp and husband Richard, Patricia Pinkel (husband William deceased) and brother Joseph Corless and wife Jan.Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 27th from 2-5pm at the Cusick Funeral Home at 80 Mountain Avenue in Somerville followed by a Mass of Catholic Burial to be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 35 Mountain Avenue in Somerville on Monday, October 28th at 9:30 am. Interment Immaculate Conception Cemetery, SomervilleIn lieu of flowers, the family requests you make donations to Kathleen’s favorite charity in the name of Kathleen C. Smith to the Samaritan Homeless Intern Program (SHIP) at 87 East High Street , Somerville, NJ 08876.
