Kathleen Lynn Phillips, 72, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on June 8, 2025, a day shy of her 73rd birthday.
Born and raised in Somerville to the late George and Clara Albright nee Horner, she was a graduate of Somerville High School before going on to attend Muhlenberg Nursing School.
After graduating from nursing school, she spent her early career as a helicopter flight nurse serving the San Diego Emergency Department. Kathleen devoted over 25 years working as an oncology nurse, most recently serving her hometown at Somerset Medical Hematology and Oncology.
Since childhood, Kathleen was a devoted parishioner of United Reformed Church in Somerville. She found joy in volunteering for the SHIP program’s galley soup kitchen, providing meals to those in need and lending an open ear to those who needed a friend.
Kathleen was an energetic grandmother who relished in spending quality time with her family. She assisted at every birth of her grandchildren. Kathleen had a voracious appetite for food and travel. She loved to cook, loved animals, and was an avid reader. Kathleen was also a dedicated Rutgers Athletics fan.
She is preceded in death by her parents George and Clara Albright, and her brother Ken Albright.
She is survived by her beloved husband James Phillips, her loving daughters Nora Katona and husband Craig, and Allie Bridges and husband Jon, her step sons James Phillips and wife Tara, Craig Phillips and husband Daniel Spitzer, her dear siblings, Sharon Garcia and husband Joe, Lydia Ardin and husband Richard, Christopher Albright and wife Barbara, and sister-in-law Diane Albright, her cherished grandchildren Emme, Coleman, Paige, Chase, Lucas, Max, Ashton, and Penelope, her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
