Karolyn (Konrad) Seabright, aged 77, passed away at Hackensack University Medical Center on Jan 1, 2021 after a long battle with leukemia. She was born on January 18, 1943 in Newark, NJ. She was raised in Somerville but graduated from Bernardsville High School in 1961 after moving to Basking Ridge.

​Karolyn pursued a career in the insurance business and earned certification as an insurance agent from a Manhattan insurance school. Her career began at Hawley-McLachlan Insurance and Travel agency in Somerville. A dedicated worker, she rose to become a successful businesswoman. In the 1970s, Karolyn became owner of the Bartley Insurance Agency in Flanders and Chester, NJ. According to a former employee, Karolyn always treated her staff with respect and integrity and was proud of her employees. She worked tirelessly to earn the client’s trust. Karolyn retired in 2004 after selling the business.

In 1993, Karolyn married Charles (Chuck) Seabright, who was also in the insurance business.

The one thing she always wanted in her life was a college education. After retirement, Karolyn earned a bachelor and a master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University in French literature. She spent the summers studying in France to improve her fluency and soak up the French culture. Karolyn was an avid runner, completing several marathons. She also enjoyed touring various countries by bicycle. A passionate reader, she also enjoyed watching movies and attending Broadway theater. Karolyn enjoyed time at her Jersey shore home with her French poodle as her companion.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, employees and clients. Karolyn is survived by her brother, sister, nephew, niece, stepdaughter, stepson, and several step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Karolyn’s name. A private service was held at St Bernard Cemetery and Mausoleum.
