Karin Janet Ripalda

Karin Janet Ripalda, 53, died peacefully on September 16, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.

Born and raised in Lima, Peru, to Jose Mria Noel Torres and Yolanda Aleja Sotomayor Vidal alongside her two brothers, she was naturally creative and enjoyed roller skating. After High School, she moved to the United States in 1992 where she enrolled in Passaic Community College. After graduating she began her career with Atlantic Medical Group, specializing in authorizations and was the embodiment of a patient advocate. Karin looked at every patient as if it was her own family, dedicating her career to assuring they received the care they needed. Her ability to go above and beyond for patients and her colleagues shined throughout her over twenty-year career. In 2006 she and her husband settled to Bridgewater where they raised their family. Affectionately known as “Martha Stewart” amongst her colleagues, she was always baking, cooking, sewing, or knitting for every special occasion and life event they experienced. It was a special touch of kindness that remains her legacy amongst them.

Karin’s talent for baking and cake decorating was worthy of professional caliper. A cake brought into the office for a birthday was never simple, a fondant nurse or flower on top always made it personal and was a reminder of how her kindness made an ordinary event extra-ordinary. She was devoted to her boys; her husband and sons were the light of her life. She was always there for them and encouraged them to be their best and most of all found joy in the memories they created together. Karin was always proud of her heritage and culture and enjoyed trips back to Peru. She ran a catering business out of her house which shared the cultural delicacies with others who were able to have a taste of home at their own events. A true friend to all who met her, Karin’s charismatic nature was one of giving. In the end it was apparent how much she gave when her entire hospital team returned the favor and was with her through it all.

Surviving are her dear parents, Jose and Yolanda Nole, her beloved husband Alejandro Ripalda Rojas, her cherished sons Jose Alejandro Ripalda and Alexandro Ripalda, her dear brothers Gerardo and Hector Nole, her adored dog Oreo, her extended family, cherished friends and Atlantic Health family.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 22, 2025, at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, East Lincoln Avenue and Hoes Ln, Piscataway.

Nacida y criada en Lima, Perú, hija de José María Noel Torres y Yolanda Aleja Sotomayor Vidal, junto con sus dos hermanos, era una persona creativa por naturaleza y disfrutaba del patinaje. Después de terminar la secundaria, se mudó a Estados Unidos en 1992, donde se matriculó en Passaic Community College. Tras graduarse, comenzó su carrera en Atlantic Medical Group, especializándose en autorizaciones y siendo la personificación de una defensora de pacientes. Karin trataba a cada paciente como si fuera su propia familia, dedicando su carrera a asegurar que recibieran la atención que necesitaban. Su capacidad para superar las expectativas de sus pacientes y colegas brilló a lo largo de sus más de veinte años de carrera. En 2006, ella y su esposo se establecieron en Bridgewater, donde criaron a su familia. Conocida cariñosamente como "Martha Stewart" entre sus colegas, siempre estaba horneando, cocinando, cosiendo o tejiendo para cada ocasión especial y evento de la vida que vivían. Fue un gesto especial de bondad que permanece como su legado entre ellos.

El talento de Karin para la repostería y la decoración de pasteles era digno de un profesional. Un pastel que traían a la oficina para un cumpleaños nunca era sencillo; una enfermera de fondant o una flor encima siempre lo hacían personal y recordaban cómo su bondad convertía un evento ordinario en extraordinario. Era una persona dedicada a sus hijos; su esposo e hijos eran la luz de su vida. Siempre estuvo ahí para ellos, animándolos a dar lo mejor de sí mismos y, sobre todo, encontraba alegría en los recuerdos que creaban juntos. Karin siempre se sintió orgullosa de su herencia y cultura, y disfrutaba de sus viajes a Perú. Dirigía un negocio de catering desde su casa, donde compartía las delicias culturales con otros, quienes podían disfrutar de un sabor de su tierra natal en sus propios eventos. Una verdadera amiga para todos los que la conocían, el carisma de Karin era generoso. Al final, se hizo evidente su generosidad cuando todo el equipo del hospital le devolvió el favor y la acompañó en todo momento. 

Le sobreviven sus queridos padres, José y Yolanda Nole; su amado esposo, Alejandro Ripalda Rojas; sus queridos hijos, José Alejandro Ripalda y Alexandro Ripalda; sus queridos hermanos, Gerardo y Héctor Nole; su adorado perro Oreo; su familia extendida, queridos amigos y la familia de Atlantic Health.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo de 1:00 p. m. a 5:00 p. m. el domingo 21 de septiembre de 2025 en la Funeraria Cusick, ubicada en Mountain Avenue 80, Somerville.

La misa de entierro cristiano se llevará a cabo a las 10:00 a. m. el lunes 22 de septiembre de 2025 en la Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción, ubicada en Mountain Avenue 35, Somerville.

El entierro se realizará a continuación en el Cementerio de la Resurrección, ubicado en East Lincoln Avenue y Hoes Ln, Piscataway.
