Judy F. Vogt

d. June 23, 2015

Age 78
Formerly of Somerville

Judy F. Vogt, 78, of Whiting, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2015 at her son’s home surrounded by her family.

She was predeceased by her parents Leo and Anna Masterson, and by her sisters Ann, Lorraine, Jean, and Sally. She is survived by her sons John (Julie Doran) Vogt and Kurt (Lisa) Vogt, and her daughter Kirsten (Brian) Rose. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Jake, Brendan and Allison Vogt, and Matt and Meredith Rose. Many nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, also brought joy to her life and travels.

Judy earned a B.A. in English Literature from University of Missouri at Columbia in 1959. She made New Jersey her home in 1972, enjoying raising her family in Somerville and then loving retirement in Whiting. From 1972-1984 she rose through the ranks at the Somerset Trust Company in Somerville to be the Director of Human Resources. Later she worked for Carter-Wallace in New Brunswick from where she retired, leaving the working life behind but going forward with lifelong friends (including her “Auntie Em”). Judy loved to travel and cherished memories of trips to Europe and cruises with her sisters. Not a gardener, she joined the Crestwood Village Garden Club so she could attend the trips with her delightful friends; she also loved spending time with friends at the Village Sun newspaper and Crestwood Village association. Judy brought her great humor to their meetings and outings and every luncheon table wanted her at theirs. Her quick one-liners and hearty laughter are her legacy; she was well-read and a great conversationalist, always had a compassionate heart and a prayer for others. She will be greatly missed at every gathering.

Though a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville on Friday June 26 at 9:30am, followed by internment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery and a memorial luncheon directly after where friends and family are invited to share their stories and celebrate her life and spirit.

Arrangements made by Cusick Funeral Home; in lieu of flowers please send donations to a charity of your choice, or to Barnabas Health – Home Care and Hospice (Barnabas Health - Home Care and Hospice: Giving) whose devotion and assistance was immeasurably valuable and appreciated by our family.
