In Loving Memory of Joyce A. Biringer

Joyce A. Biringer, 78, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025. Born and raised in Detroit, MI, to the late George Joseph and Susan Margaret Biringer (née Tilger), Joyce was a proud graduate of Chadsey High School.

Joyce faced early hardships, losing her father at the tender age of eleven. This loss brought her mother and sisters closer together, forging a bond of resilience and mutual support. In 1964, at the age of eighteen, Joyce endured the loss of her mother as well, further strengthening the sisters' commitment to one another.

Joyce initially pursued a career in cosmetology, earning her license before transitioning to work at Blue Cross - Blue Shield in Michigan. In 1966, she married George McCusker, and in 1979, they moved to Hillsborough, NJ, with their son. Throughout her time in Hillsborough, Joyce explored various occupations, including bank teller, receptionist, office manager, and eventually, a licensed optician. She skillfully ground lenses and assembled glasses for Dr. William Prinsket’s clients. Later, Joyce worked as a secretary at both the former Somerset Medical Center and Carrier Clinic as well as an office coordinator for the Hussmann Corporation in Wixom, MI.

After her divorce in 1999, Joyce returned to Michigan, where she cherished time with her sisters and family. She later moved back to Hillsborough to embrace her most cherished role as a grandmother.

Joyce was a selfless individual, always dedicating herself to her family and community. She volunteered at the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center in Michigan, working with at-risk children and adults. Joyce had a love for reading and cooking. Her greatest joy, however, was spending quality time with her granddaughter. Joyce’s presence brought immense value to her family's lives.

Preceded in death by her dear sister, Susan Biringer, Joyce is survived by her loving son, Sean Timothy McCusker, and his wife, Lori; her cherished granddaughter, Madelyn; her dear sisters, Geraldine Taylor, Barbara Tackett, Georgette Engard, and Patricia Biringer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Joyce's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
