Josephine Kowalczyk died August 17 at home. Mrs. Kowalczyk was born in Perth Amboy and lived there until her marriage on May 5, 1951. Then along with her husband, Henry, they lived briefly in Bound Brook until moving to Branchburg in 1955 where they still reside.
A graduate of Perth Amboy High School, Josephine worked for the American Heart Association in Somerville and then spent many years working for the banking industry in the mortgage department. She retired in April 1991 after 18 years from National Westminster Bank, now Bank of America, in Jersey City. She and her husband were members of the Manville Elks for many years.
Her major achievements included being a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Surviving are her beloved husband, Henry, two daughters Karen Kolvites (Ray) of Belle Mead and Lori Talmage (Cal) of Avon by the Sea, granddaughters Bonnie Janos (Andrew) of Virginia, Christina Kolvites and Timothy Kolvites both of Belle Mead and a great granddaughter Madelynn Suzanne Janos of Virginia. Mrs. Kowalczyk was predeceased by her parents Martin and Mary Bisaha of Perth Amboy and by 9 siblings Ann, Irene, Ethel, Dorothy, Mary, John, Michael, Martin and Joseph.
Visiting hours from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday, August 19, at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. A Funeral Service will be held 10am on Saturday, August 20, at the funeral home followed by an interment at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater.
