Joseph was Born in Indiana in 1945 to Joseph & Jane Westfield. He was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from St. Francis College in 1966 and enlisted in the Army National Guard Reserves were he served for 25 years and retired with the rank of Captain. An avid gun collector, he excelled in shooting sports and was a strong advocate for Firearm Safety and Education. He was a member of the Phillipsburg Pistol Club since 2010 where he was the club's Executive Officer in charge of all shooting events and training, as well as the Chief Range Safety Officer and Club Social Director. He also served as the Shooting Sports Director for the Boy Scouts of America, Monmouth Chapter, at their annual summer camp in Forestburg, NY.

In addition to his firearm hobbies, his most favorite pastime was his talent at pig roasts. Rare was there a weekend during the summer that Joseph wasn't booked to provide his friends or friends of friends, with an authentic roast pig experience. His talent and personality will be sorely missed by all.
