Joseph E. Sartin Jr. of Bridgewater, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2021 with his children by his side. Joe was born on August 17, 1952 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Joseph and Dolores (Atkinson) Sartin. He is predeceased by his father and namesake, as well as his beloved wife and mother of his children, Cynthia (Pollard) Sartin.
He will be greatly missed and is survived by his two children, Ms. Jamie (Sartin) Hadac and Mr. Robert Sartin (Nadia), his three precious grandchildren Sophia, Ben and Camilla and his two grand pups, Rosie and Delilah. Joe is survived by his mother, Dolores and his loving sisters Patty Teeling and her husband Tim of Bridgewater, New Jersey and Karen Devine and her husband Charley of Roswell, Georgia. “Uncle Joe” is also survived by his many nieces and nephews Brian Devine (Jeanie) and their two children, Tim Devine, his wife Tricia and their four children, Chris Devine, Tim Teeling, his wife Sarah and their two children, Liz Cahill, her husband Joe and their daughter with a son on the way, and Katie Teeling and her fiancé Evan Kerstetter.
Joe attended Immaculata High School in Somerville and Kings College in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. After college, Joe lived with his wife, Cindy, in Piscataway, where they raised their children. Joe and Cindy met when they were both working at Shop-Rite in Somerville. They loved taking trips to the Jersey shore and playing the wheels on the boardwalk.
Growing up he rode bikes a lot and enjoyed riding a big rope swing in his neighbor’s barn, along with riding their donkey. Holidays were always celebrated with his parents, sisters, Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe, and cousins Betsy and Marilyn. Family vacations were at Hershey Park and Harvey’s Lake.
Joe was always a hard worker who gave everything to his work. He worked for Coopers and Lybrand, Amerada Hess and most notably for Leucadia National Corporation (Jefferies) for 31 years.
If you were lucky enough to know Joe - you know he would do anything for anyone. If you were sick, he would go get you medicine. Something breaks in your house, he would gladly go run to ACE hardware or Home Depot and get the part and show up at your door and help you fix it. Break a flip flop in college, he will go get you a pair from your favorite store at the mall and ship them to you. Tell dad you and your college roommates are hungry - Dad would drive down to the University of Delaware on a Sunday afternoon to take you and your roommates to dinner (driving 2 hours each way) - but only if we went to his favorite Italian restaurant.
Joe was a such wonderful man. He is loved and will be missed by many! He showered his family with love and joy every day. Joe was the most caring, loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend and co-worker.
Following Joe's generous nature, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to a charity of your choice.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 5, from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876 908-725-4100. Followed by a Prayer Service at St Bernard RC Cemetery & Mausoleum in Bridgewater.
