John D. Sylvester Sr.

John D. Sylvester Sr. was born October 7, 1918 in Baltimore, MD and died in Hillsborough on January 26, 2013.

He was married to Beatrice Bell Dollinger on August 20, 1939 and resided in Northern Virginia until 2006 when he relocated to Hillsborough.

Don, as he was known to family and friends, was employed by IBM Corporation for 50 years and was a life member of the Masons and served as Master of the Columbia Masonic Lodge 285 of Arlington, VA.. A former Scout Master for Troop 143 of Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington, VA., he also was a world traveler, visiting many countries, but especially loved the State of Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Beatrice Bell Sylvester, his son Don and wife Edie of Manville, 4 grandchildren, Mary Grace Gagliardi of Potomac, MD, Kristina Schumucher of Manville, Patricia Sylvester of Manville and Michael Sylvester of Bridgewater and 6 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours from 7pm-9pm on Wednesday, January 30, at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. Interment Services will be at the Columbia Gardens Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
